Container Management
· Containers must be closed and in good condition
· Keep containers away from drains OR
· Protect nearby drains by providing secondary containment (i.e. spill pallets, berms, drain covers)
Secondary Containment
· Must be kept free of debris and water
· Keep containment structures covered whenever possible
· Rainwater must be discharged regularly unless it has a sheen
· If the water has a sheen, it must be cleaned‐up before discharging the water
Monthly Inspections
· Inspect all oil containers & oil‐containing equipment for worn parts
o damaged / rusted tanks
o leaks or stains
o proper operation of machinery / equipment
· Document the inspection
